There is a kind of hush
I feel it coming in
Rolling slowly like dense pink fog
A whisper on the wind’s wings
Do you hear it? The hot pursuit?
It’s a symphony — a sumptuous sound
Melting like gold to fit into life’s mould
It’s coming, it’s coming, it’s at my threshold!
I hear the hush, the whisper grow and grow
I sit and wait for my conscience to take hold
The sound of temptation is so bold
Enticing as a siren to a sailor
Yet — if I give in… What becomes of my honor?
Temptation shakes my foundations with glorious thunder
It has come to my house for one last plunder
Pillaging peace, ravaging confidence, planting doubt
If I have enough faith as a mustard seed, my hope will sprout
If watered with love
Hope will take root
And give me the courage to fight off this brute!
