The Gandhi Fallacy

Be the change you want to see in the world.

When you know what you want, you want it desperately, passionately, and for so long…Well, after a while you start to go crazy over it. Not that saying any of this changes anything. And there it is. The real problem. You realize that you cannot be the change you want in the world and worse, that despite your efforts, you cannot change it to the world you want it to be.

While this is quite a bleak view of such an uplifting quote I can’t help but feel like SOMETIMES in certain situations, it is fallacious.

    Sometimes, not getting what we want – deliberately putting it on the altar – will bring about that positive change, that will have the biggest impact on the people around us. sacrificing what we want the most, for the greater good.

    Always special to see your posts pop up, Eleanor. My prayer is that, along with the post, you are in excellent health, happy, and above all – still standing. Of course, both you and Ghandi are right.
    I am free to be the change I’d like to see in the world and then make a go of it; did the world as a whole take an example from Gandhi? No. But there have been some that did – I’m not sure. Was Gandhi the change that he wanted to see in the world? I also don’t know the answer to this question. I think changing for the better is always a refreshing experience. My change may change others; then I believe that is gratifying. If not – well, I’m OK with that 🙂 Blessings, Peter.

      You always leave the most lovely of comments, Peter. I am doing better. My health was a bit rocky there for a while but I’m happily on the mend.
