Green Light

I miss being certain

I miss feeling like it’s all worth it

I miss the girl who knew and gave 110%

Pursuing my purpose

I’m supposed to find a way —

“I always find a way!”

***

I miss expanding my mind

I miss knowing what I want to find

I miss who I used to be, parts of me

Like in Gatsby, “You can’t repeat the past.”

But Fitzgerald still leaves me a gift

There will always be a green light

So long as there is

There will always be hope within sight

  1. Spot on, again.

I find myself pining for those days (so very long ago, but shush) when I was much more certain of almost everything.

    1. Thank you for putting a big smile on my face this morning. And I’ll confess something to ya…that’s hard to do. Not a morning lark, total night owl. What about you?

      1. Yay! I’m glad to have been able to make you smile. It makes the day go easier.

I’m a wee-hours night person who, by virtue of circumstance, is obligated to put on the mask of a morning person. I haven’t enjoyed it… ever… but — circumstance. It might explain why I’m an insomniac and never feel rested. Ever.

      2. I’m an insomniac too. Struggled with it my whole adult life. I totally get it!

      3. I’m in acceptance mode with respect to insomnia. There is no struggle now. I shrug, get up and sit in the Laz-Y-boy and I stare at the night shadows. Occasionally I even fall back asleep.

I can really relate to Toby Keith’s “As Good As I Once Was”. We have our peaks and valleys through life. I was once really strong. Now I’m a weakling. But I do my best with whatever strength I have. We have to push forward as best we can.
