Fragile Things

There are fragile things

Delicate and frail, I feel

Damaged, indeed, I know

My cup overflows

From a lifetime of woe

My mind in anguish, pulled a million different directions

Always possessing too high of expectations

Often find myself in nonsensical situations

Stoping short, unable to achieve validation

Yet, maintaining my determined desperation

Joan Jett said, “Life is strong and fragile. It’s a paradox… It’s both things, like quantum physics: It’s a particle and a wave at the same time. It all exists all together.”

  2. Poetry that does not embellish pain, but transforms it into a form of honest and powerful expression.

  3. Pain has a purpose; finding the purpose is often the tricky part. Strong and fragile are indeed a paradox. Knowing this is only part of finding the purpose. We are familiar with strong, but the purpose is elusive. So, embracing strong and not fearing fragility will aid our search for purpose. Your poetry is alive, and in it, there is a balm for healing your soul. Blessings, Peter-James.
